Nylon "Roper" Rein
Nylon roper reins are made from ½" or 7/16" nylon double braid marine grade rope. Some people prefer polyester rope for reins. I don't. This nylon is super soft and will "fuzz" up with use, making it even softer on your hands. It's weighty and has a lot of "life" in it that poly rope usually doesn't have. This is the same high quality rope that I use in my lead ropes and other products. These rope reins come nine, ten or eleven feet long with brass or steel (you choose) scissor snaps on each end to connect to the bit. I use a harness leather tab to connect the snap to the rope. This acts like a slobber strap to allow you to give your horse a quick release from pressure. The leather tabs are fastened to the rope ends with leather lacing instead of rivets in the event the snap breaks and needs easy replaing. The lacing adds a measure of safety as it will break in the event your horse gets tangled up in the reins or steps on them for some reason. Instructions for replacing a broken lacing or snap can be requested at any time via email. All reins are now available in white with a blue tracer double braid nylon rope....the same high quality rope as used in all my products.

Mecate With Fancy Tassel End And Decorative Leather Knot Nylon mecate reins are made from 1/2" or 7/16" nylon double braid marine grade rope. The same high quality rope that we use in our lead ropes and other products. These mecates are 22 feet long with a leather popper on the end. They can be used with a bosal or slobber straps. There is a hand tied decorative knot ( gaucho knot) above the tassle at the slobber strap end which makes this mecate look exceptionally nice. The decorative knot in my color choice and the popper in burgundy latigo.

No Frills Mecate And Sport Reins: Here's a no frills mecate rein for those of you who just aren't into the tassel. Double popper ends with the "business end" weighted with a back splice and the other left soft and supple for attaching to a bosal, rope halter or slobber straps. Great value for budget minded people at $37.00 each! Made from double braid nylon marine rope, the same quality rope used in all my products. Available in both 1/2" and 7/16" diameter rope.
22' X 1/2" No Frills Mecate Rein $37.00 ****
I've had so many requests for a short rein that can be used with slobber straps that I decided it was worth offering them up. Tied like you would a mecate on slobber straps but the same on both sides without the extra for a lead rope. They are finished with a popper on each end. It takes about 1' of rope each side to tie them onto the slobber straps. In the picture below, the rein is shown tied to a medium size slobber strap (about 6" long when folded in half) so you will need to decide how long your rein should be. 11'-12' is a good length to leave you with 9½' - 10½' continuous rein that can be adjusted (shortened) at the slobber straps. These are made from the same marine nylon rope as all my products and are available in both 1/2" and 7/16" diameter rope. The sport rein will look the same as the no frills mecate pictured above but shorter.

Hand twisted and then braided into 5/8" rope, they are 22' long. Exceptional quality. Leather popper on one end, turks head braided into horse hair on the other.

Split Leather Reins With Water Ties.
These are made from 11oz. beautiful weaver harness leather. They measure 1/2" X 7'(including water tie). The top edges are rolled and all the ends have an English point finish.
