Natural Horse Supply will be closed down for an undetermined amount of time due to the death of my father and the time needed to deal with that. The product pages will be available during this time but you will not be able to make a purchase from them. All training pages will be left up for your enjoyment.
Training~Stick article The training stick is truly one of the most useful tools that we own. It is a made from a four foot long solid, not hollow, fiberglass rod. This training stick has exceptional balance and feels great in your hand when working with your horses. Our training stick has a golf club grip on one end and a long lasting rope loop on the other, a design we feel is more durable and nicer looking than leather or rubber tips and is being used by other makers and sellers of training sticks. We get a lot of referrals from Gabriele Rachen-Schoneich's book "Straightening the Crooked Horse" (see pg. 72) but her stick looks much different than ours and is referred to as shoulder stick. However, our stick will perform the same duty as her very cool looking one and we thank her for mention in her extemely informative book! This stick weighs in at just under a half pound. We like this type of training stick because it does not flex like a longe whip. We tie a plastic grocery bag to the ring on the end of the training stick to help with some of our training. We use the training stick primarily for these purposes:
Training stick; 3/8" solid fibergalss, four feet long, black or white stick, black golf club grip handle with a decorative braided leather knot on top & rope end which will easily accomodate a progress string (sold separately). Total weight is approx. 8oz. (minus any rope or other attachments) Click here to go to training stick article $30.00 (includes shipping surcharge) Note: Progress sting sold separately below...this stick does not come with the string since so many people prefer using a flag or plastic bag for training purposes. NOTE: Cannot ship sticks Internationally

Slobber Straps Training~Slobber straps article Give you and your horse one of the best training aids available. Slobber straps provide instant release when working with the bit to reward the horse for appropriate behavior. They also provide protection for your mecate reins. Exceptional quality materials --9oz. russet harness leather. Slobber straps are a double strap of leather with a hole in both ends. They are normally used with a snaffle and mecate reins. The slobber straps are folded and fit through the rings on the bit. They are designed to be used with a bit that has at least 3" rings so that there is room for the headstall and slobber straps. The rein is attached through both straps with a half hitch knot which allows for easy adjustment and removal -- no matter how hard the rein gets pulled, this knot will easily loosen. Slobber straps are especially useful to avoid wear on your mecate reins and they keep the reins out of the water when your horse gets a drink. The weight of the slobber straps assist with the mecate reins in providing an instant release (reward) to the horse when training. This is essential when you consider that you only have 2-3 seconds to reward your horse when you get appropriate behavior before the horse looses the concept of relating the behavior to the reward.
These have a 5/8"" hole with a 1" slit to make it easy to slide mecates through. The straight edge russet slobber straps are hand made of a heavy 9/10 oz. Weaver harness leather. The burgundy & Black slobbers are hand made of heavy 9/10 oz. latigo leather. All measure approx. 1½" wide. The large slobbers are 14¼" long (7'" when folded) and the medium slobbers are 12¼" long (6" when folded). If there is a special size in the slobbers that you want made , don't hesitate to email me and ask.
Slobber Straps $11.00-$11.50 per pair Use the BUY NOW buton if you want to buy only a pair of slobber straps as the shipping will be adjusted for you. You will only be ablt to purchase one at a time and do not need a PayPal account to do this. Training~Progress string article Progress strings made from 5/16" double braid rope with an eye splice at one end and a leather popper at the other end (popper colors vary due to what I have on hand). This is probably one of the most useful tools that you can carry. It is aptly named because you can progress significantly with your horses learning when used properly. Both the eye and back splices are hand sewn so they won't unravel. Use
it on the ground to send energy to a horse -- spin the popper end
at the shoulder or rump of a horse that is moving in to your space.
You can fashion the progress string into a makeshift halter or use
it to tie a horse out on the trail. Use it as a leash for your dog.... In the saddle, you can use the progress string in place of a crop to tap the horse in the rump. It is very useful to work out the neck reining concept on your horse -- with a helper on the ground using a lead rope or longe line, put the progress string around the neck of your horse. The pressure of the rope along with leg aids can easily teach a horse this concept. Don't let the low price deter you....this is made of the same high quality rope as all my rope products but priced fairly to fit everyone's budget. New!!! 4' Progress String for a less cumbersome training stick attachment.
4'
Progress String $11.50
6' Progress String $13.50
Solid Brass Safety Snap
The snap has a big enough ring to attach any of the 1/2" lead ropes with an eye splice but is a little difficult for the 5/8" leads to fit through so I don't recommend trying it. NOTE: These ARE NOT replacement snaps with a hinged ring.
4 ¼ inch long with a 1 inch snap.
Brass Safety Snap $8.00 Use BUY NOW button if you are wanting to purchase a single snap so that shipping charges can be adjusted for you. You will only be able to buy one at a time and do not need a PayPal account to do this.
